“Right after my divorce, in 2001, I wrote “The Longest Night” (a sad, lonely song). It’s never been published. I lifted certain musical elements from that song to create “Me & You”. For whatever reason, it seemed appropriate. I have my better-half to help me face the present & future along with a few good friends. Everyone needs that. We’ve been bombarded with negative news & politics; tolerating the behavior of liars and tyrants. “Me & You” is a song about hope and love; the desire to strive for fairness, tolerance and peace in the world. This desire, this dream is for the young and old, for the present and future, for me & you.”
Lyrics
Mistakes I have made many, friends I’ve made a few.
No one more important than the one I found in you.
Some years have been wasted, angry and confused.
It still remains a mystery just what I’m here to do.
On the dark side of the universe, hatred swallowed up the sun.
But the dark side is not so distant inside each and every one.
Beyond the scope of reason, beyond the simple mind
Questions asked by countless men, unanswered countless times.
Will we survive the hatred.
Can truth and kindness truly overcome.
Our differences they define yet divide us.
Can we resolve to see it through for peace to come?
Ooh baby I can’t stop dream’in
My my my lady I can’t stop believ’in
That someday I’m gonna find a place that never
Lets hate or anger cloud my view
And that day I hope it’s this world around us
Free from the tyrants that oppress
Free from abuse, pain and loneliness
Free from the toil of all the rest
It’s there, It’s there I’ll be with you
Me & You
